    Shannon and Dublin offices have successfully renewed their certification as IAA Approved Hauliers, demonstrating the company’s continued commitment to maintaining the high operational standards required by the Irish Aviation Authority.

    Additionally, from 1 June 2026, MW Ireland has officially achieved Good Distribution Practice (GDP) Certification, enhancing its capability to support customers in the healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical device, and diagnostics sectors.

    This certification follows a successful audit of GDP in May 2026 where auditors observed the strong quality systems and security controls, regulatory compliance and well-maintained operational processes of Maurice Ward Ireland. The audit also identified and acknowledged the company’s commitment to staff training, documentation management, temperature-controlled transport, and quality assurance practices.

    Operating from Shannon and Dublin, Maurice Ward Ireland offers multimodal logistics solutions including air, sea and road freight services, customs support and specialised transport capabilities.     From 1 July 2026, new EU legislation will implement new requirements for international transport operations using light commercial vehicles (LCVs) between 2.5 and 3.5 tonnes.

    Vehicles operating internationally will be required to use tachographs and comply with Regulation (EC) 561/2006. Drivers will be subject to regulated driving and rest periods, including mandatory breaks after 4.5 hours of driving, daily rest requirements and weekly driving limits. These changes are expected to impact transit times and operational flexibility across the European express transport sector.

    New EU Rules for Light Commercial Vehicles in 2026

    The new legislation applies only to international LCV transport and does not affect domestic operations.     The German port system has recently transitioned to a new release process known as Secure Release Order (SRO). SRO is a new digital, PIN-free, mandatory process for import container releases at major German seaports: Hamburg, Bremerhaven, and Wilhelmshaven, introduced to prevent container thefts and smuggling. The rollout began on 1 October 2025, with full mandatory implementation at terminals from 3 November 2025. Instead of traditional PIN codes, the system generates a secure digital “pick-up right” that is traceable, centrally controlled and linked to specific authorized parties and container details. The SRO establishes a standardized, transparent and fully digital exemption process across German ports, enhancing control throughout the container release process.

    This platform is operated by DAKOSY Datenkommunikationssystem AG (Hamburg) and dbh Logistics IT AG (Wilhelmshaven and Bremerhaven), ensuring a secure and unified release process across major German ports.

    To adapt efficiently to this change, MW Group Ocean Freight Product team have completed a centralized single registration on behalf of Maurice Ward HQ on the German Ports platform. From this central registration, individual child IDs have been created for each Maurice Ward office. This setup allows every office to obtain container releases quickly and independently, using its own dedicated user account.

    This centralized approach streamlines administration, ensures secure and consistent processing across all offices and delivers a clear cost advantage.

    Maurice Ward & Co. B.V. is pleased to announce the appointment of Martin Klijn as the new Branch Manager.

    Martin brings massive experience and dedication to his new role. After more than six years working in various positions at different airlines, including operations, customer service and sales, he joined Maurice Ward in 2016 as an Operations and Sales Agent. His strong performance quickly led to a promotion to Team Leader Airfreight in 2018, a role he held for 2.5 years before becoming Operations Manager in 2021. Over the past 4.5 years, Martin has successfully led several projects and overseen daily operations, achievements that have now paved the way for his promotion to Branch Manager.

    “My main focus is to ensure a solid foundation for our operations and to consistently deliver an excellent service to our customers and partners. This to improve our results and growth. This year, MW NL entered the IATA Top 100 at position 100 for freight forwarders at AMS and the goal is to continue climbing that list.” – says Martin Klijn
